That is where Joe Chavis (from Chavis Building and Renovation) came in. We were new to the Toledo and a Google search later, we found Chavis Building and Renovation.
During our walkthrough for the estimate, Joe was awesome. He came in with a positive attitude, listened to what we wanted, and was genuinely excited to help us create the room we needed. The part that impressed us the most was his excitement for the project.
We ultimately decided that we wanted to go with Chavis Building and Renovation and put in a small deposit for Joe to start crafting plans. We would have the “family room” completely redesigned into a master bedroom with an accompanying bathroom.
Overall, the project went well. As with any large project, there were some small hiccups. But any time that something came up, Joe always let us know and did EVERYTHING he could to mitigate the delays or correct the problem. You want your contractor to be transparent and ready to work with you to correct the problem. Joe did all of that and more, often at his own expense.
Overall, the bedroom and new bathroom are amazing! It works really well for my aunt who uses a wheelchair. Chavis Building and Renovation truly do great work! Joe Chavis is an awesome contractor to work with. His passion for your project and positive energy is really refreshing compared to other contractors that just try and get the job done as quickly as possible so they can get a paycheck. Yes, there were some issues that popped up throughout the project, and there were some delays. But Joe was always working to speed things along or to present us options to correct the issues.
This was a very large project, and to be honest, we were nervous about hiring someone to do it. But Joe came in with a positive attitude, good energy, and a vision for our project. Anytime there was an issue, he was always there, working to solve it (often out of his own pocket). My family and I completely and totally recommend Joe and Chavis Building and Renovation. We already have more projects that we are planning, and the work his company does is truly amazing. I want to personally thank Joe Chavis and everyone on his team for all of the hard work, the time, and their passion that they put into making our house livable for someone who is disabled.

Joe's team spans a significant amount of expertise, with people specializing in electrical, cabinet installation, dry wall/tile/paint, and finished carpentry (and I’m sure many others!). Each time a new team member came out, I was highly impressed with their attention to detail.
Beyond his team, Joe himself holds everything his team does to an incredibly high standard-often identifying minor adjustments that took our kitchen renovation from “really great!” to “WOW”. Ones I regularly didn’t notice without him pointing them out. Joe regularly stopped by to inspect the work done, called to check in on things, and, most importantly, hang out with our dog (also named Jo).
Working with Joe’s team was truly a treat, and the best experience we’ve ever had on a construction project. I never had to chase for timeline/status updates, Joe was highly proactive. When everything was said and done, the price he quoted me was the price he final invoiced me. No surprise overages at the last second.
I highly recommend Joe and his team of experts for any home reno project. We will absolutely call Joe for any future projects.

The crew that came out CRUSHED the work we needed, and Joe's experienced eye knew what other projects needed to be completed as well. They tore out our 1942 sink and backsplash and updated it, gave us new flooring, transformed a massive "bonus" room over the garage, and replaced a rickety banister, among many other things in just a few days.
Joe remained in contact daily, visited the job site, and delivered above and beyond expectations. Most importantly, his crew models his commitment and work ethic. They showed up early, and stayed a full 8 hours or more every day.
